What's the whole deal with Menu Extras vs Applications? Menu Extras are not quite applications; they run within the SystemUIServer on your machine, and you can command-drag them to different locations in your menubar. Additionally, they will automatically launch when you reboot or logout/login. Examples include the clock and airport menu extras that you can add using System Preferences.Currently, WeatherPop is an application which wraps both a Menu Extra and an Application. It will attempt to launch the Menu Extra if you are running MacOS 10.1.x or if you have Unsanity's Menu Extra Enabler, and it will attempt to launch the Application otherwise. The reason that you need the Menu Extra Enabler to run the Menu Extra in MacOS 10.2 is that Apple has disabled third-party menu extras in Jaguar. If you want to force the Application version, hold down the command key while you open WeatherPop.

How do you edit the list of cities? Click on the Manage Locations menu item in the Locations menu. This should bring up a window allowing you to edit your primary and favorite locations. Currently you are limited to three favorites, but we have received requests to remove that limit -- we are taking this into consideration.
How do I move the Menu Extra? Command-drag it to the desired location in your menu bar
How do I quit the Menu Extra? Command-drag it out of your menu bar and it should disappear in a poof of smoke, similar to dragging an item out of the Dock. The Menu Extra has no Quit option because of this.
Where should I install the Menu Extra? Anywhere you want. I prefer /Applications. Since new releases bundle both the Application and the Menu Extra, this question isn't really relevant any more, so download the newest version.
How do I automatically launch the Application? The Application can be launched by adding it to the "Login Items" of the Login pane of System Preferences. This is not necessary for the menu extra version of WeatherPop

Why isn't my data accurate? Our data source is more accurate for some cities than others. We will gradually be adding more data sources with future releases. See below for the current list of suggestions. If you have a suggestion not on the list, let us know. If you think you've found a bug, please see the above section on Bug Reporting
Why isn't my WeatherPop in color? WeatherPop Advance has color images; the freeware version has grayscale images.
Why does WeatherPop only display a question mark? Why does it tell me "Bad returned data:..."? This is because the data source is showing unparsable data (click on the first menu item to view). This will probably resolve itself soon.
Does the version know that I am registered for the earlier version? Even though I deleted it? Deleting WeatherPop will not delete your registration information.
Why do the left parts of the menu items remain in black text when highlighted? This is due to an implementation issue which I'm not sure how to fix at the moment.
What cities are supported? Tens of thousands of cities are supported. Just type in the name or part of the name of your city in the New Location... dialog.
Can multiple users on my machine use WeatherPop? Sure, but you need to enter the registration code seperately for each user.
Sometimes, when I switch to a different city, WeatherPop stays on the last city I chose, why? If WeatherPop is having trouble retrieving data for the city you switched to, it can seem to stay set on the last city you chose. In this case, either choose a different city or it is possible that the problem is temprorary and WeatherPop will update automatically later.
WeatherPop disappears from my menu bar, why? Users have reported problems with WeatherPop disappearing from the menu bar after it has been running for a few days. This problem should be resolved with version 1.3. There is a separate issue with WeatherPop disappearing on machine wakeup that may still be occurring. We are working on the problem.
Why doesn't WeatherPop show the last update time in the time zone of the city selected? We are considering adding this as a feature in a future version of WeatherPop.
Why does WeatherPop show the moon during the day or the sun during the nighttime. This is simply a problem with our data source. We are working on finding ways to retrieve more consistently accurate data.
My copy of WeatherPop just crashed. What should I do? Open up your console (/Applications/Utilities/Console). If you were running the WeatherPop application, look for output labeled "WeatherPop". If you were running the Menu Extra, look for output labled "SystemUIServer". If anything was outputted around the time of the crash, include that in your post to the WeatherPop Yahoo! group.
I'm on a modem. How do I prevent WeatherPop from connecting to the internet when it tries to refresh? In System Preferences : Network, click on the popup to Show: the information for your modem. Click on the PPP tab, and click on the "PPP Options..." Button. Uncheck the option to "Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications"
